Strengths: Easy Installation under Windows XP Home, inexpensive, works well.

Weaknesses: Only weakness is lack of internal USB port.

Summary: Added this card to a system that only had 2 (1.1) USB ports built into the mainboard. For XP Home, all that was necessary was to power down the system, install the card in an empty PCI slot, and power the system up. XP recognized the card and installed the drivers automatically. Definitely an effortless install.

The card has worked fine with a printer, cable modem, and camera that has been plugged into it. An external USB drive also worked fine with quick transfer rates when compared to using the system's built-in 1.1 USB ports.

The only drawback is that it doesn't come with an internal USB port, which would be useful for easy routing the USB connection to the front of cases that have front USB ports.

Haven't had the card long enough to see how well it holds up over time, but so far the card works well and seems to be worth the price.

Strengths: It was very easy to install, plug and use..It is very fast.

Weaknesses: I really have not found any weakness. the PCI425 was not compatible...the manufacturer replaced it with the PCI420 which works fantastic.

Summary: Installation was a breeze. Moving my files to and from my external hard drive is faster than ever. I'd recomend it to anyone; however, there is no instructions on how to return the USB Card if it did not work. Make sure you are aware of this.

Weaknesses: When I use the 4 ports I have some power issues, some devices requier more power that the one provided by the card.

Strengths: Easy to install. The driver installation is not needed on W2000K.

Weaknesses: Unclear if it really supports the high speed 2.0 USB.

Summary: Installation takes less than 15 minutes. W2000K recognizes the card without additional driver installation. The card is functioning well (unclear if the USB 2.0 high speed really works) Would recommend for a cheap USB card.

Summary: 4 ports;good price Memory failure when shutdown sometimes,; not nearly as stable as I hoped for although there are no hardware conflicts, the BSOD pops up on shutdown, or when a hot swap occurs. Summary: Product exceeded my expectations. Just plug into motherboard and it is recognized by Windows immediately.
Plugged four different USB connected items into the board. They were immediately available to use. No programming even though a disk was provided. Transfer rate copmpared to my old 1.0 USB is terrific.

Weaknesses: Fitting into computer

Summary: (Edited September 15th by gregorye70) The ports work fine but when I installed the card and tried to screw it into the back panel of the computer it didn't line up exactly with the screw hole. Therefore it is exerting some pressure on the mother board while screwed into the back panel of the computer.

Weaknesses: None so far.

Summary: I plugged it in, and it was up and going after XP recognized it. Solid performance. What a difference from USB 1.1!!! Well worth the purchase. It is powering a 4 port USB 2.0 Hub, driving an external HD and other components. Hasn't missed a beat.

Strengths: Don't know

Weaknesses: Won't fit into my PCI slot!

Summary: When I tried to install this card in my computer, I found out that it would not fit in my PCI slot. Its possible that I could have got it in with more force, but I was putting about 90% of the pressure that I could to try and force it in and I was afraid any more would break my motherboard. I finally gave up, figuring my computer was worth more than an $8 card was.

Weaknesses: None

Summary: I was a little worried when I purchased this, as I have no experience with the brand. But, then again I've had terrible experiences with major brands like Belkin. So I gave it a shot. This card works phenomenally. I plugged it into my Power Mac G4 and it "just worked" I've got 3 USB 2 peripherals plugged in and have not had a single issue in 2 months of use so far. Great product, dirt cheap.

Strengths: cheap

Weaknesses: Doesn't work.

Summary: I installed this port several months ago but have just now really tried trouble shooting to make it work. At first I thought something was wrong with my external harddrive, but it is in fact, the cheap USB card. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, reinstalling from both the CD and the web site, rebooting, you name it. Any device I hook up to it won't recognize the ports. It's as if the USB card doesn't exist and yet it shows up in my "device manager" tab in the control panel. I guess that's what I get for buying cheap. There is probably a reason that this 4-port USB device is $20 and the next one that StarTech.com sells is $50. I guess since it works for some people it is ok, but I learned my lesson. It's not worth it to buy cheap. Spend the extra money and save yourself the hassel.

Strengths: Outside of the price - there are none.

Weaknesses: The 4 hours trying to get this card to work on my PC. Faulty drivers and installation. If you are not PC savy - this will be a hail storm to try to figure out.

Summary: I bought this card for it's price and great reviews above. However, once I got the card I followed the directions to the "T" and it didn't work! There were several errors that occurred within the card during setup. Everytime I thought they were fixed - I restarted my PC - and Windows would find it again and try "unsuccessfully" to re-install the drivers it needed to function correctly. I have a PIII/450Mhz Systemax PC and runs great! I have never had a problem installing new hardware on the PC - or at least find a solution if an error occurrs. Star Tech website had like 5-6 general errors on it - not much of a data base of info!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD! BUY SOMETHING ELSE - IT MAY BE MORE - but the time I spent on it would be worth it.

I don't understand how those above had great success in installing this card. I tried Windows update, google, etc - nothing worked - it is now in it's box waiting to be shipped back to CDW. Star Tech support only works Mon-Fri. The card arrived Friday evening - so you see - I have to wait 2 days before I even get a response to the problems I incurred!

I have 3 years of A+ experience and never incountered the buggy software like this! Not Worth it!!!!!!!!!!
Oh - it inserted just fine in my PCI slot!
