Strengths: Fast, very small, great capacity.

Weaknesses: Price.

Summary: Currently it is cheaper to buy this 1GB Memory Stick PRO than buying 2 512Mb ones. A lot of memory is a must if you have a high definition camera and are going on a long trip. With my Sony DSC-W1 (5.1 megapixels) it can store around 394 pictures on the highest definition or around 708 in standard definition. Also, if the memory is empty, I can store 45 minutes of 640x480 video. When copying pictures to my PC via USB 2.0 it's also a breeze. Two thumbs up.

Strengths: Compact, sleek

Weaknesses: price

Summary: I went with Sandisk memory stick as the company has a goot reputation, sony memory sticks of SONY brand are very expensive, a 256 MB SONY card is $70 where as a 1 GB Sandisk memory stick is $135 from newegg.com.

Strengths: Same exact size and format as more expensive Sony Memory Stick Pro.

Weaknesses: More memory only creates a desire for even more memory.

Summary: Memory is very straightforward. It generally either works well, or not at all. I have had no trouble at all with the memory, besides the almost instant desire for another identical memory stick for file transfers so I don't have to take this one out of my camera. I quickly found that the ability to easily transfer more than a CD's worth of data between PC's with a cheap ($15) USB connected Memory Stick reader was quite usefull. At my camera's highest resolution only a half dozen pictures would fit on the included memory stick. Now I can fit many hundreds of high-resolution pictures.

Strengths: Great capacity

Weaknesses: cost

Summary: Great to have the extra capacity. Works great in my UX-50 PDA for storing tons of video. I didn't need the extra fast read/write speeds for my use so this was the best way to go. This memory stick works fine for video playback. No need to spend the extra $$ for the new Ultra's and Extreme Memory Sticks.

Weaknesses: none

Summary: The Sandisk 1GB Memory Stick PRO came ready to use in its own case which protects the Memory Stick nicely. It is ready to use and was inserted into my Sony Digital Camera nad I immediately became taking pictures. It is easy to use and has a large capacity for holding pictures. Excellent for travel. Highly recommend!

Summary: This card, as I noticed, while used in my digital camera (Sony DSC-v1) will take 45 minutes of video at the highest setting...with the 32MB card that came with the camera I only got 1 min 45 sec of video. As with pictures I can take a whole lot more now than I could with the smaller card. I am glad I purchased this card, and am already thinking about getting another...

Strengths: Fast file access and 1 gig is a lot of space to fill!!! Outside design of the card looks spiffy.

Weaknesses: Price!

Summary: As with any Sony or sony affiliated product you're gonna pay a price. Only downside to this product is the price.... hopefully it will drop in the future when the 2,4, and 8 gig versions will become available.

Strengths: small compact, has 1GB capacity

Weaknesses: easy to insert wrong way, seems fragile, small can be lost easily

Summary: I recently purchased a 1 GB memory stick pro for my SONY camcorder and I love it! while you are taking video you can do still photos at the same time and you can take many since the memory capacity is big. I would buy the biggest you can so you don't have to keep changing smaller sticks when the fill up. Shop around price differences are amazingly different!

Strengths: Inexpensive alternative to the Sony product. Large storage capacity. Fast access. It works as advertised.

Weaknesses: None with the product but I did find it very confusing to decide which product to buy. Sandisk offers this product which is blue in color, another that is tan in color with all the same specs.

Summary: This product was purchased after days of reviewing product offerings from all the manufacturers. I checked out all the specs and could not find any difference between this product and the sony product offered at $20+ more than the street price of this one. As it turns out, Sandisk makes the Sony product anyhow. So why spend more dough for the same thing? I did find the research difficult and confusing between all the product offerings. The Sandisk web site really is a waste and they could probaby boost their sales if they would take the time to explain the product offereings and differences between them.

Strengths: - Price relative to other brands of Memory Stick products (ie. Sony, Lexar) - Small, compact size - Faster than many other types of flash products

Weaknesses: - Price relative to other flash products (ie, Compact Flash, Secure Digital cards)

Summary: The Sandisk 1GB Memory Stick Pro is perfect for those who have a 5MP or greater Sony Digital Camera. On my 5MP Sony DSC-W1, I can now store almost 400 5MP Fine resolution pictures without changing sticks. In addition, because of the Memory Stick PRO features, I can store full rate (30 fps) video, as well. It is HALF the price of the equivalent Sony branded memory stick with no perceivable difference in speed or quality.

For the same price, you could have purchased almost 2 1GB compact flash or secure digital cards. However, in order to get Sony quality digital cameras, memory sticks are required. Sandisk is certainly the most economical way to go for all large capacity memory sticks.

Strengths: The 1Gb has a very large storage capcity. Lots of pictures without having to worry about carrying a 2nd momery stick.

Weaknesses: Some may say price... But Sandisk is much cheaper than Sony.

Summary: (Edited January 14th by redsnapper) Once again another example of "bigger is better". Great replacement for the Sony brand at a much lower cost. Make sure you shop around since there is a wide variety of prices. I've even read somewhere that Sandisk also makes the Sony memory stick and puts the Sony name on it. (not sure how true this is, anybody know?)

Strengths: Faster transfer speeds. Large memory capacity in a small package.

Weaknesses: Limited access. Have to have a Sony laptop or a special adapter for your computer.

Summary: The 1GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO provided us with an excellent opportunity to store and manage our photos and home movies. The jpeg and mpeg files transferred much faster than the stock 16MB card included with the Sony DSC-P100 to the laptop. The stick has not lost any of our photos or corrupted like our older SD card.
